The Sentinel (yacht)
The Sentinel was purchased by SCI in 1902 to visit ships and bring merchant mariners to and from the institute for religious services and recreation. Views of the yacht in the harbor and moored next to the Floating Church of Our Saviour, as well as detailed shots of the services it provided to merchant mariners are shown. Herbert L. Satterlee, member of the Board of Managers, can also be seen on the Sentinel in 1906.

The J. Hooker Hamersley was given to SCI in 1915. In addition to transporting crews to and from ships, the boat was used as a training vessel during World War I.

The Fir Grove
The Fir Grove ship is pictured in port in Seattle (Wash.) Inui Steamship Company, the owner of Fir Grove and its sister ships Pine Forest and Southern Aster, was found guilty on October 14, 1992 of wage abuse and faulty bookkeeping by the Ninth Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals. The 21-member Filipino crew, with the help of SCI, filed suit against Inui Steamship Company and were awarded $40 million, the largest maritime wage settlement in history.
