Independence; interacting with mariners; speaking at the American Association of Port Authorities’ 40th Annual Convention on Oct. 27, 1951; at the National Conference of Seamen’s Agencies on the Dalzell tugboat in June 1955; on the “Tompkinsville” ferry celebrating the 50th anniversary of ferry service between Staten Island and Manhattan in 1955; attending Graduation Day at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point (N.Y.) with wife on Feb. 24, 1956; and at the Communion Breakfast of the St. George Association on May 24, 1959.
