Description (Scope and Content)

Includes black and white photographs of activities taking place in the Janet Roper Club. SCI opened the club on September 8, 1943 at 3 East 67th Street in New York (N.Y.) The club provided seafarers with a place to take their friends and families for entertainment and leisure activities. The following items are seen under this subject: Madeleine Carroll selling war bonds and stamps on September 23, 1943; a luncheon on May 18, 1954 with Clarence G. Michalis; Rev. Raymond S. Hall with Hy Gardner during the filming of the NBC television program “Tonight” in 1957; and volunteer Helen Adams talking to United States Coast Guard officer Joseph Pisarra.
