Description (Scope and Content)
After spending time in the Civil Conservation Corps, Damian finally received his seaman’s papers and went to work with the Merchant Marine. During World War II, Damian sailed on the Liberty ship W.P. FEW delivering supplies to U.S. military the Pacific. While at sea, the U.S. dropped two atomic bombs on Japan and the war ended soon after. Damian describes unloading excess supplies overboard and returning home.
