Funeral for Skippy Baritone

Solidarity with other workers went beyond the fight for better wages and relief benefits. In this flyer, the West Side Unemployed Council has taken on the cause of providing a funeral for “Skippy Baritone – Homeless Negro Worker” who died of exposure in a condemned building in the winter of 1932. At a time when workers faced severe hardship and struggle, people banded together to try to live with dignity.
